Leon Lester Lease passed away peacefully in his home on May 27, 2025, at the age of 95. He was born April 13, 1930, in West Chester, IA to Lester and Eunice (Baker) Lease. He moved to Sumner, IA as a young child and has lived on the same farm since then.
Leon married JoAnn Ommen on July 25, 1951. They enjoyed working together on the farm for 73 years.
Leon was a passionate farmer. He enjoyed nature, nurturing the crops and tending to the farm animals.
Leon was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Eunice Lease, his half sister, Pauline Hughes, Grandchildren, Brandon and Heidi Lease, Glen Davis and Great grandson Emerei Davis.
Survivors include his wife, JoAnn, 3 children, Rebecca Davidson (Mike) of Bethany, MO. Sherry Seehase of Sumner, David Lease (Lori) of Sumner. He leaves behind six grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
Though Leon has left a big hole in our hearts, he leaves behind a rich legacy that lives on in the values he instilled in his family. We cherish the many memories and the love he freely shared with everyone he met.
Private family services will be held. Memorials may be made in Leon’s name to SEMS or a charity of the donor’s choice.
