MASON CITY – Mason City police are investigating a fatal accident with multiple injuries.
On Friday, September 27, 2019, at approximately 10:44 PM, Mason City Police were called to a single vehicle crash just south of Highway 122 on California Avenue. Information from persons on scene was that the vehicle had rolled over and there were multiple occupants ejected.
Officers arrived on scene and found two persons ejected from the vehicle. Two other occupants were on scene, but not ejected at the time of the crash. All four occupants were transported to MercyOne North Iowa for their injuries. One of the occupants died at the hospital. The condition of the others is unknown at this time.
California Avenue remains closed at this time between Highway 122 and 11th Street SE while the crash scene investigation is finished. Mason City Police were assisted at the scene by the Iowa State Patrol and the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office. The Mason City Fire Department responded to provide medical assistance to the vehicle occupants. The Clear Lake Fire Department was also called to assist with emergency medical care.
