Floyd County Board of Supervisors Meeting
October 29, 2024, 6:30 p.m.
The Floyd County Board of Supervisors met in the Floyd County Courthouse EOC/Training Room with the following in attendance: Supv Mark Kuhn, Supv Dennis Keifer, and Supv Jim Jorgensen.
At 6:30 p.m. Kuhn called the meeting to order.
Jorgensen/Keifer moved to table the continuance of the third reading of the Amendment to the Ordinance for no more than 45 days. Jorgensen commented after discussion with County Attorney Todd Prichard and Whitfield & Eddy Law Attorney Thomas Reavely Keifer that it became imminent to table the reading to get a bigger picture, gather more information, make considerations, allow appropriate time to take in information to make good fiscal decisions for the county as well as a balance for citizens. Reavely stated he concurs with the motion as it is consistent with the opinion provided to the board this morning. Kathy Carter suggested there be a minimum, such as 30 days, otherwise the continuation could be set for tomorrow; Kuhn responded that the meeting could not be tomorrow because of 24-hour notice requirements. Dan Miller commented if anyone read the article in today’s newspaper regarding resetting the meeting, common sense would be that anyone should know how this meeting would go. Kuhn mentioned the agenda was to discuss the 1,000 foot setback waiver map that Jorgensen requested and review the opinions of Reavely and Prichard; Kuhn expected a discussion from the public and apologized that Jorgensen and Keifer decided to waste the public’s time. Motion carried 2-1 with Kuhn opposing.
