AMES – A man was found dead in downtown Ames early Sunday morning and police are searching for clues in the incident.
On November 3, 2024, at 8:26 AM, the Ames Police Department received a report of a male laying in an alley in the 700 block of Burnett Avenue. Officers located a deceased 53-year-old male in a parking lot near the alley. The deceased was transported to the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner for an autopsy.
The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of family.
Investigators canvassed the area, processed the scene and conducted follow-up interviews. There does not appear to be any threat to the community, police said.
