CEDAR RAPIDS – An Iowa man is facing a charge of attempted murder and other felonies after he allegedly shot at least one person.
Cedar Rapids Police officers responded on Monday, July 08, 2024, at approximately 10:14 PM to the 3100 block of O Ave NW following the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers encountered several individuals, including the person who fired a weapon and a person injured by gunfire. The injured party was treated at the scene by first responders and transported to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The individuals involved in this incident were interviewed. All parties are known to one another. Criminal charges related to this incident were not immediately filed as it remains under investigation.
Following continued investigation, Cedar Rapids Police today arrested Brian Allen Keys (pictured at top), age 60, of Cedar Rapids on September 27. He was was taken into custody and charged with:
– Attempt to Commit Murder (two counts )
– Willful Injury Resulting in Serious Injury
– Reckless Use of Firearm Resulting in Serious Injury
– Assault While Displaying a Dangerous Weapon (three counts )
– Assault Causing Bodily Injury
He was transported and booked at the Linn County Correctional Center.
