Anna Christine Russel, 61, of Mason CIty passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at Good Shepherd Health Center. A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 12, 2024 at 11:30 A.M. at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel.

Anna Christine Russel, 61, of Mason CIty, IA passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City, IA.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 12, 2024 at 11:30 A.M. at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St NE, Mason City, IA 50401, with Reverend Jill Brandstad officiating. Military Honors will be performed by the V.F.W. Post 733 following the service.

Visitation will be held 10:00 to 11:30 A.M.at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St NE, Mason CIty, IA 50401.

Memorials may be directed to Community Living Care in DesMoines, IA and to Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City, IA.

Christine was born on the Fourth of July, 1963 in Altus, Oklahoma to Frank and Rosalea (Durham) Johnson. Christine graduated from Lyman High School in Longwood, FL in 1981. Following graduation she enlisted into the United States Navy as a morse code operator. During her years of service she was stationed in San Diego, California and Okinawa, Japan. Following Christine’s military service she worked as an insurance saleswoman for Cappers Insurance and later as a life insurance specialist for State Farm Insurance.

In 2004 Christine was united in marriage to Rick Poole of Clear Lake, IA, until his passing in 2008. On September 17, 2011 Christine and Steven Russel were united in marriage at the Community of Christ Church, in Clear Lake, IA. Together they enjoyed traveling to Wisconsin, Indiana and Colorado, spending time with friends and family, especially the grandkids. She was the best grandmother, playing games, going out to movies, shopping, spending as much time with them as she could.

Christine dedicated her life to her work and was proud of all she did. Her greatest source of pride was her family. She loved to cook and bake, her carrot cake quickly became a favorite amongst all who tried it. She was known to be loving, caring and giving, she would do anything and give anything to those she loved.

Those left to cherish Christine’s memory are her husband Steven Russel; son Stephen (Samantha) Johnson; grandchildren Kaylee Johnson, Alexandria Johnson, Lillian Kuykendall, Faith Mahaney and Braxton Johnson; siblings Barbara (David) Sullivan, Ted (Jody) Johnson and Linda (Ken) Meister; brother and sister-in-law Scott (Barb) Russel, Jeanne Bergdale and Connie Johnson; close friend Dave Livingston, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and more friends than you can list.

Christine is preceded in death by her husband Rick Poole; parents Frank and Rosalea Johnson; sister Susan Collier; brother Steve Johnson; brother-in-law Ron Bergdale; father-in-law Jack Russel; mother-in-law Donna Poole and special friend Beth Livingston.
