According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident took place early on July 1, 2023. At just before 1 AM that morning, at the intersection of Highway 65 and 190th Street just north of Hampton, a 2017 Subraru driven by 34-year-old Adam Booker of Arvada, Colorado, was eastbound on 190th and ran a stop sign there.
