Police seek clues after man shot in Fort Dodge and flown to hospital

FORT DODGE - Police are seeking clues after a man was shot in Fort Dodge and flown to a hospital.

FORT DODGE – Police are seeking clues after a man was shot in Fort Dodge and flown to a hospital.

On Wednesday, August 31st at approximately 6:32 P.M., the Webster County Telecommunications Center received multiple calls of a shooting in the 800 Blk S 22nd St. Information provided at the time indicated that one person had been shot.

When Officers arrived on scene, they located a 24‐year‐old male who had sustained a gunshot wound to the leg. Fort Dodge Fire Rescue quickly arrived on scene and transported the male to Unity Point‐Trinity Regional Medical Center for further treatment. The male was ultimately life flighted to Des Moines. The injury sustained by the male is not believed to be life threatening.

Upon further investigation from the patrol officers of the Fort Dodge Police Department, officers located witnesses in the area as well as physical evidence that was collected. Members of the Criminal Investigation Division were called in to assist with the investigation. This investigation is ongoing.

Officers and investigators are continuing to follow up on this incident. Police encourage anyone who may have seen or heard anything around this area at this time to contact the police department.
