Leona Larson, age 91, of Lone Rock passed away on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at Kossuth Regional Health Center. Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm on Thursday at the Burt Presbyterian Church. Services will be live streamed on Lentz Funeral Home’s website: https://www.hdezwebcast.com/show/leona-larson. Burial will take place at Burt Township Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service.
Leona Mae Larson, the daughter of John and Meta (Tietz) Gifford, was born on March 5, 1931 in Burt, Iowa. She attended country school and then Burt Junior High School. On October 28, 1958, Leona was united in marriage to Eugene Larson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. She worked at Welps for many years. Leona had a strong faith and was a part of a Bible study group. Some of her favorite things were flowers and gardening. She also loved sewing and quilting. Leona had made a blanket for each grandchild and great grandchild when they were born.
Left to cherish Leona’s memory are her children, Starr (Jerry) Abbas of Marathon, Sherri (Terry) Parsons of Burt, and Jerijean Hall of Marathon; 14 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; sisters, Deloris (Elvin) Boeckholt of Titonka, Lucille (Melvin) Faber of Burt, Karen Wubben of Osage, and Diana (Larry) Bunkofske of Burt; and brothers, Richard (Elizabeth) Gifford of Slater and Don (Bobbie) Gifford of Garner. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Meta; husband, Eugene; son, Michael and his wife, Kira; great grandson, Kennedy; brothers, Gary, Jerry, (John) Jack, and Gordan Gifford; and sisters, Maxine Gifford, Gladys Boeckholt, Rosetta Blumer, Vera Blumer, and Darlene Gross.
