Local law enforcement track down Mason City man on UTV allegedly stealing and burglarizing the region

KOSSUTH COUNTY – Local law enforcement tracked down a Mason City man on a UTV vehicle allegedly stealing and burglarizing the region.

On May 26, 2022, the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a UTV (Utility Terrain Vehicle) near the Thompson area that was identified as possibly being involved in area thefts and/or burglaries. Deputies from Winnebago, Hancock and Kossuth counties, along with Forest City and Garner Police Departments, the Iowa DNR, the Winnebago Emergency Management, the Forest City Fire Department, and Faribault County Sheriff’s Office of Minnesota were involved in pursuit of the UTV in the Myre Slough recreation area south of Thompson. After a short pursuit through fields, the driver was arrested and identified as Eric William Jensen, Age 40, of Mason City, Iowa.

Jensen is facing numerous traffic and criminal charges in Winnebago County and also has warrants out of Winnebago County and Mower and Martin Counties in Minnesota. Property in Jensen’s possession at the time of his arrest were identified as items being stolen from several area burglaries.

Eric William Jensen will be facing charge(s) in Kossuth County as well as the UTV and other items in his possession were reported stolen from a rural Titonka residence back on or about May 13th, 2022.

This case remains under investigation.
