ESTHERVILLE, IOWA – Four people were charged with drug crimes as the result of a search warrant in Estherville recently.
According to Emmet County Sheriff Mike Martens, while a sheriff’s deputy was serving a civil process March 2, 2022 at 1:30 PM at a residence in Estherville, they noticed evidence of illegal drug activity in the residence.
A search warrant was applied for and granted for this residence located at 124 West 2nd Avenue North in Estherville. Upon execution of the search warrant by the sheriff’s office, miscellaneous drug paraphernalia, vape pens, cartridges, marijuana and nearly 160 grams of marijuana wax were located at the scene.
As a result of the investigation, 19-year-old Caleb Truog of Estherville, 19-year-old Gabriel Soat of Estherville and 18-year-old Paije Bergstrom of Primghar were taken into custody and transported to the Emmet County Jail where they were booked.
Truog was charged with Possession of a controlled substance (marijuana) 2nd offense, Possession of a controlled substance (marijuana) with intent to deliver, Failure to affix a drug tax stamp, Gatherings where controlled substances are used, misbranding or labeling of prescription drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. Soat and Bergstrom were both charged with Possession of a controlled substance (1st offense) and Possession of drug paraphernalia.
In addition, a 17-year-old was also referred to juvenile court authorities for Possession of a controlled substance (marijuana) 1st offense and Possession of drug paraphernalia.
The sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by the Estherville Police Department.
