OBIT: Marvin Hackbart

Marvin L. Hackbart, 70, of Mason City, died Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at his home in Mason City.

The son of Elroy and Joyce (Nitcher) Hackbart, Marvin was born in Grafton, IA on December 9, 1950. He grew up alongside three siblings, Sharon, Kenneth, and Howard. At the age of 14 Marvin’s family moved to Northwood before settling in Manly where Marvin attended graduated high school.

From an early age Marvin enjoyed music and the great outdoors; both passions he carried throughout his adulthood. In his teenage years Marv was a member of a few different bands where he played guitar. He enjoyed fishing and deer hunting with his brother, Howard, and was a talented woodworker and tiler.

In 1982 Marvin was united in marriage to Pat Kurasch in Mason City and together they would share 38 years of marriage.

For many years Marvin worked at MBM warehouse in Mason City, formerly known as FFM.

Those grateful in sharing in Marv’s life are his wife, Pat Hackbart, Mason City; son, Kurtis (Holly) Hallstrom, Chisago, MN; step sons, Mike Roberts and Jeff Roberts, both of Mason City; grandchildren, Jack, Reese, and Olivia Hallstrom, Trenton Roberts, Kaitlyn Roberts and her daughter, Alessi Malek, McKenzie Roberts, Madison Howe, and Ethen Roberts; siblings, Sharon (Chuck) Badenschier, Rochester, MN, and Howard (Joyce) Hackbart, Grafton; as well as extended family members and many friends.

Marvin is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and brother and sister in law, Kenneth and Kathleen Hackbart.
