RURAL HAMILTON COUNTY – An Iowa Falls man died after his vehicle left a rural roadway and struck a utility pole.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the crash took place Sunday afternoon, July 8, at around 3:15 PM near the Story and Hamilton county line. Chad L. Chelsvig, age 34 of Iowa Falls, was northbound on Highway 69 at the intersection of 100th Street when his 1964 Chevy Nova left the roadway to the left and struck a power pole at the intersection. Chelsvig was transported to an Ames hospital, but passed away due to his injuries. The ISP report says Chelsvig was not wearing a seat belt.
The crash remains under investigation.
