As parents, we all know the struggle of a rainy day, especially in the holidays, in finding entertainment for our children. Netflix has a great range of kid’s entertainment, with their own section just for children, meaning they cannot access any adult material even if you were to step out of the room. Whether you want to sit down as a family and watch a show, or introduce your child to a new TV series whilst you get some jobs done around the house, below are some great ideas to get started.
The Shrek Movies
Netflix is home to all four of the Shrek movies, which are a great family favorite for both children and parents. A comedy fairytale with a twist, an ogre saves a princess from a tower who also turns out to be an ogre, not your typical prince and princess story.
Girl Power
Netflix boasts a variety of TV shows and movies aimed directly at girls (although this doesn’t mean the boys can’t join in!) such as Barbie Life in The Dreamhouse, a great one if your little one is obsessed with her Barbie’s or dolls. If your child is a little order there are many TV series aimed at an older teen audience such as Victorious, about a 16-year-old girl who makes a break into a performing arts school in Hollywood.
Boy Power
Of course, we cannot leave the boys out, and as said earlier, this doesn’t stop the girls from watching these either! Netflix have many programs and movies based on the typical little boy things; cars, trains and dinosaurs. DinoTrux brings two of these together, with half dinosaurs, half trucks fighting evil together. This is a fun series that will keep your little one seated till the end. For those a little older there is a TV show based around Lego, great if they are already interested in playing with it. Lego: Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu has 6 seasons of Lego ninja fun, keeping the kids entertained for hours and means they won’t be re-watching the same episodes and become bored.
Christmas and Thanksgiving Entertainment
As the holidays are when most families get together and watch movies and when you are most likely to be stuck in the house due to bad weather, Netflix is a great place to start. With many to choose from for all ages, there is something for all the family. With many popular movies such as Arthur Christmas, and special episodes of your children’s favorite TV shows such as My Little Pony: A Very Minty Christmas, you and your littles ones will be spoiled for choice.
Being stuck in the house doesn’t have to be boring, as there are many activities you can do such as arts and crafts, playing games and watching TV. This is not an exhaustive list and Netflix boasts a wide range of entertainment for your children.
