NORTH IOWA AREA – A female was assaulted in the North Iowa area when she stopped to assist a supposed stranded motorist, and police are issuing a warning.
NIT reported back in August of at least three sexual assaults that occurred this summer along rural roads in Black Hawk and Linn counties in Iowa, prompting a warning from law enforcement not to stop a car to help people appearing to be stranded while driving on sparsly populated roads (rural or outer urban roads).
Today, the Mitchell county sheriff’s office has reported that in a neighboring county, another attack has been waged against a female. They say a white male, mid 30’s, approximately 5’10” tall, driving a black or blue 2012 or 2013 four door car, staged his car to be broke down along the highway. When a female stopped to offer assistance, he assaulted her.
Law enforcement advises: If you observe this type of vehicle or subject along the side of the road, do not stop, but call 911 immediately and law enforcement will check on it immediately.
