HAWKEYE, IOWA – Iowa law enforcement converged on a rural Iowa house and nabbed an alleged meth-maker.
On June 1, 2017 the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at 110 West Burger Street in Hawkeye, Iowa for a suspected manufacturing of Methamphetamine in a residence. After a two-week investigation, the sheriff’s office obtained a warrant on the residence of Brian Jay Sunnes, age 34 of Hawkeye. The Fayette County Sheriff’s and Oelwein Police Clandestine Lab team entered the residence and processed the scene. Several containers of evidence that were used in the manufacturing of Methamphetamine had been taken from the residence and Sunnes was arrested on scene. The Hawkeye Fire Department and Tri State Ambulance were on scene to assist in the decontamination of the suspect and Deputies.
Sunnes was transported to the Fayette County Jail and later charged with Manufacturing Methamphetamine a class “B” felony, Possession of Methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor. He remains in the Fayette County Jail awaiting his initial appearance. If convicted Sunnes could face up to 25 years in prison. This is an ongoing investigation and more arrest could be made at a later date.
Law enforcement says all safety percaushions were taken and the citizens of Hawkeye were never in any danger.
