ESTHERVILLE, IOWA – An armed, wanted Iowa man toting meth has been caught in Estherville this weekend following a disturbance.
On April 8, 2017 at 1:04 PM, Estherville police were dispatched to 621 North 12th Street regarding a disturbance.
While on scene, Estherville police discovered 2 males in the garage of the residence. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that one of the males who was identified as 29-year-old Randy Kurth was wanted on a Probation Violation Warrant from Audubon County Iowa. A short time later, Kurth was arrested on the warrant and it was discovered that he was carrying a hand gun with a loaded magazine in it. Police also discovered that Kurth was in possession of Methamphetamine as well as drug paraphernalia. Police were also able to obtain permission to search a bag Kurth was carrying and discovered that he had another handgun, which also had a loaded magazine in it.
Kurth was transported to the Emmet County Jail. He was charged with 2 counts of Carrying Firearms, Possession of a Controlled Substance Methamphetamine, and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Kurth appeared in front of a Magistrate. He was released the next day on a $10,000 signature bond.
