Max Weaver

MASON CITY – Max Weaver of Mason City, a former councilman of 12 years, called on the Chamber of Commerce Board to overrule Director Robin Anderson and outright cancel Thursday’s secret meeting at the Park Inn Hotel on the Prestage Foods development “round 2” that excludes the public.

According to Mr.Weaver, via his new blog at MaxFrankWeaver.com:

Why are Robin Anderson and the Chamber of Commerce willing to wreak havoc on Mason City and Cerro Gordo County? What Robin Anderson and the Chamber of Commerce are doing makes no sense at all.
Why are Robin Anderson and the Chamber of Commerce behaving with the same arrogance as Eric Bookmeyer?
Why are Robin Anderson and the Chamber of Commerce so willing to divide and alienate our community and their membership?
Why are Robin Anderson and the Chamber of Commerce holding private meetings of a legislative nature?
Why are Robin Anderson and the Chamber of Commerce referring to the vast majority of Mason Citian’s as naysayers and aginners?
Why are Robin Anderson and the Chamber of Commerce willing to import poverty?
Why are Robin Anderson and the Chamber of Commerce so hell-bent on dramatically changing our way of life and the culture of Mason City, after 146 years?
Why are Robin Anderson and the Chamber of Commerce so willing to revisit a toxic company that has labeled our citizens as racist and kooks?
What Robin Anderson and the Chamber of Commerce are doing makes no sense at all. Robin Anderson has never been elected to city government, yet she has the keys to the front door of City Hall. Who gave Robin Anderson the authority to act in this way?

Here’s who:
Executive Committee and the Board of Directors of The Chamber of Commerce

There are two things the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors can do to make this right in the community:

1. Immediately cancel the private meeting on Thursday, June 2nd at the Park Inn.
2. Take a good look at Robin’s employment status…it’s time.

Guest: you are right no one got an invite except the folks FOR this crap…what does that tell you, that is if you have a mind that’s in check. Doubt

I agree with Jose. Why did Max single out Bill’s spouse. If you are so much in the know “Anonymous” explain exactly what he meant and what was he hoping to gain by saying it.

Really Jose? Everyone knows what was meant by that… . Where you been? If you are so adamant about personal attacks let’s get on people who are waging war on our town. Or who attack Weaver’s garden or life. Could go on and on. Wake up and smell out the real problem. Oh and learn to play fair. Your God would want you to.

Just was did Weaver have in mind when her called Candi a “deal maker”? Elaborate? And why single out Shickels’ spouse for personal commentary? Elaborate?

My gut feeling is that Robin has been will be called up to the Chamber big league if she helps push this through. As she said..you little people just don’t understand. But I think we do.All Prestage really wants is the water resource.Research the Jordan aquifer and you will see that it does not need the added draw down pressure. That alone is enough for other communities to be concerned as well.Fresh water has a far higher price than sub living wage jobs.

des moines register has done several articles on the jordan aquifer for many YEARS now, highlighting an already exessive draw in north iowa due to ethanol production. no more scare tactis than you boot lickers being the majority. your fundamental problem is that there is simply so many more tax payers in mason city than there are realtors and slumlords. this is why you will never be anything but a bitter minority.

This time Weaver was man enough not to trash and attack Bill Shickels’ wife. His last blog was cowardly from dragging family members into this debate. Public officials are fair game, but hands off families Max.

Too sum up my comment under Bennett Smith article
I will skip the word bullying and go straight to terrorism on the part of our Mayor, Council,Chamber of Commerce(Robin) Globe Gazette and Ron Prestage. There is no word left to explain or describe them or the dealings about this Hitleresque ISIS ElChapo take your pick. Tis a shame.

“There is no word left to explain or describe them or the dealings about this Hitleresque ISIS ElChapo take your pick” Peter C. is this you? This sounds just like the rant about Bookmeyer calling him Josef Mengele. Off the wall and completely out of context. Demonizing your opponent is exactly what Hitler did. Good work Adolf…. I mean Anonymous.

Don’t you people know that Weaver is very wealthy? Hasn’t had to work. Travel a bit and you will see the same garden in all the major cities across our land. Get with it.
Where did you go wrong that you have to work? Pretty funny.

Although this is not about Max and his personal business he is the only one with nerve enough to speak up for Mason City and the majority of people who are against this bs. Maybe if our Mayor, council,Anderson would travel they would see what makes a place good, hip and fun. Sorry but it isn’t a pork plant.

With no Prestage being built. Here a look into the future of Mason City in ten years, and it is not good. Kraft with leave remember just alttle time ago they were talking about it. Curries/Graham will be alot smaller because material cost and also their work force is getting older and they do not have the younger workers to replace them. cargell the hospital will also be smaller due to lower population. empty retail space and down town closed for business fewer teacher due to low enrollment. higher property taxes, higher utlities bills. Instead of MC growthing with Prestage here to a population of 38,000 people it will be 18,000 people instead business looking at Mason city as a well-coming city it will be a trouble and dying city. first thing a new business will ask the corridor director is will we have the same problem as Prestage if he said I don’t know next thing they will say is i think we will look to another town. three counsel person who voted no and people against Prestage are anti growth, anti busness and anti Mason City.

Please let me agree with the majority, we need new jobs in Mason City. The only problem is if we take on a Prestage plant, we will get NO other offers from businesses to come here. Why settle for a 1 business with crappy jobs when the Chamber and EDC should go out and find several companies like McKesson. I believe the people of Mason City would be willing to spend the 35 to 50 million for companies that don’t decrease our standard of living but boost it. Let the original vote stand and let’s move on to bigger and better companies.

If this is a “secret” meeting it’s the worst kept secret ever. It is a “invitation only” meeting.Maybe it’s just me but I kinda get the feeling Max doesn’t like Robin.

He hasn’t had a real job in many years. He spends his time gathering yard art. Glad he doesn’t live next door to me. Think of His Rancho as a visual Prestage Farm.

I’d rather let Max turn my own yard into a half acre Rancho Deluxe II than have Bookie turn Mason City into dirty, stinking, petty criminal packing town.

Prestage has already been voted down, the lust of more $ is the only reason the facts of a pig slaughter operation and what will follow animal factory farms are being ignored, the people that want Prestage should be ashamed no civil society treats humans, the environment, animals this way, two word comes to mind Hippocrates, greed.

Isn’t the point of bringing a new business to town is to hire our residents? Bring jobs to us? Not happening here. Answer that Mayo, Robin ? I will provide the cookies for Robin Andersons retirement.

I still cannot believe this group for Prestage wants to live in a town with the way it will look and become. Not to mention the environmental/health issues .Obviously they do not care about that part but why live with more of the “element” ? That has got to hurt them. Yes we are racist, not for color or origin but for BEHAVIOR !

God help Mason City if Max Weaver ever become mayor. And if you want to talk about out of towners who do not pay one cent of property taxes trying to run our town, how about the people from Clear Lake, Fertile, Ames, Des Moines, Charles City, and many more towns that that came and talked at our city counsel meetings may be they should keep their nose out of Mason City Bussiness. Mason City Counsel do the right thing and bring prestage back to the table. signed a property owner and Mason City tax payer.

So I ask WHY are they not speaking to us about WHY and their side of the reasoning about this business? Obviously they are not good speakers we know that but why not tell us How wrong we are then and why. ????
