Only in mason city!

He didn’t even get a slap on the wrist, go figure cause his butt buddy did the “investigation” if it was anyone else they would’ve had their ass!!!!

Does anyone know how this turned out?

Looks like Klemas got off with a “slap on the wrist”- no citation.

“Steve Klemas, 41, was issued a written warning for failure to maintain control.

Klemas “was lost in his train of thought” when he hit two parked cars while on patrol about 8:45 p.m. Feb. 18 in the 400 block of East State Street, Cerro Gordo Sheriff’s Deputy Chris Flatness wrote in a report.”

With officers like this, no wonder there is no respect for law enforcement. This whole comment section has nothing good to say about Steve klemas

Is this the jerk off that writes all the seat belt tickets and sits at the bottom of the train overpasses on 12th and on 19th and hands out tickets to people going to work for 5 over? Instead of catching REAL CRIMINALS. If so hahahaha couldn’t of happened to a nicer guy.. Good photos, milk came out my nose…
Only wish we had live video…

How embarrassing.

I do have to agree that Klemas gives good MCPD officer a bad name. It is sad they have kept him this long. But what goes around comes around..

this klemas reminds me of some fat kid in school that got bullied and now he is trying to save the world… once again mason citys finest!

At least he is trying to do something positive and he puts his life on the line for people like you. You know! Not to bright, never amounted to anything, your classic under achiever. The one that road to school on the short bus and still lives with your parents. You know the kind that doesn’t put his or her name to stupid comments that you don’t have the guts to say in his face. Your a punk. Your what’s wrong with our country! Think about it! I’m Tommy and I approved this message!

Too, you’re. As in you’re not too bright tommy. Just another copsucker that defends them because he thinks they do no wrong.

Why are you all bashing klemas,, is it cause , you got arrested or a ticket from him. Why don’t you all get a life and quite complaining. An accident, is a accident. Why don’t you print your name too
are you afraid. Find something better to do and get a lifetime

Hold on, where is your name. You need to practice what you preach. Also the majority of the comments are not aimed at him personally. Steve is a big boy and I’m sure he knows what he is doing. He isn’t the first cop to hit two parked cars and he won’t be the last.

tommy boy, who give a flying f**k if it was an accident , hes a city employee and when the dollar amount is over a certain limit the driver of the public vehicle will be tested for a foreign substance that might of caused this ACCIDENT. If were you or I we would be checked. Just because he carries a badge does not exempt him fron the testing.

if i have any accident at work i have to take drug screen asap. no matter how small or serious, same should apply here. especially when lots of confiscated drugs go missing.

How would you know if lots of confiscated drugs go missing. Do you have an inventory and keep track of what they have and what is missing. You should probably elaborate on this, or keep your ignorant pie hole shut.

Pighead huh? Lol nice. And he’s defending the police. I see you spun the original comment. Why aren’t police required to take a drug test after an accident or after they shoot and kill someone? Blue privilege that’s why.

If it’s mandated for the public the police should follow the same rules.

How do you know that they don’t have to take a drug test? Maybe you have the inside scoop on this. By the way, drug tests are not “mandated” for the public, but rather administered per employer policies. Think before you comment, you dumb toolbox.

I agree with you, NO ONE is exempt and if he were intoxicated or under the influence than he needs to get help. At the end of the day he like the rest of us are only human! I agree with you!

Check him for OWI or drugs! Those people who said that are as dumb as an everyday crackhead. It was an accident you idiots. Have some respect. Losers!

I’m not sticking up for the officer, he’ll get what he gets. But, I travel that area almost daily, and the people that park there, park quite away from the curb/snow. Which in turn, causes me to move to the left, crossing the center line, so I don’t hit the vehicles parked there. Since I’m commenting on parking, I’ll make another parking comment. On the south side of central park where the patrons of the infamous park inn park, the snow needs to be removed from the sidewalk/curb area. People pull up there to park, and because of the snow, they don’t pull ahead as far as they should to keep the rear end of their vehicles out of the traveled portion of the road. Several times I and I’m sure others have had to cross the center of the road to keep from hitting the parked vehicles. Just a thought…

Additionally, the City’s liability insurance carrier will need to review the case in order to process the claim. The fact that the City will be releasing information regarding the matter to its insurance carrier, as well as the other carriers of the affected parties limits the City’s ability to say this facts surrounding the investigation are an internal matter. Obviously, they have failed to get appropriate legal advice once again.

They get advice, they just don’t listen to it.

Use of in-car computers is typically only allowed when the vehicle is stopped. No question that several dept policies were likely violated in this case. That can remain confidential as a matter of employee/employer disciple. However, should the man receive a traffic citation, that is a matter of public record and the media has a right to be made aware of a citation will or will not be issued.

It sure seems like they could put some type of a lock on the computer so it will not operate when the vehicle is in gear. Looking at a computer is more dangerous than looking at a phone.

Who will pay for this? Will insurance cover it if he was negligent? The public should be given all details.

there is something wrong if nothing is posted to the public regarding this issue. It is within taxpayers dollars that is happened!

A car crashed in godfathers pizza today. We’ll see if those results are made public. Probably.

Have you people took into consideration that just maybe it was a medical issue? I do believe the public deserves to know though. Chief says the results will not be made public which is wrong. Every one else’s is always made public.

Lucky no innocent citizen was not hurt or killed. Also, all 3 cars had to be towed, so he had to be speeding and obviously driving wrecklessly. Charges should be filed, not just a departmental slap on the wrist.

No matter how you feel about Steve Klemas, he is still an officer of the law and deserves your respect. The douche bag is somebody that would post stuff about him and not put their name behind it.

Have you ever delt with Steve Klemas? He thinks he is better than everyone and can do whatever he wants. Sorry to tell you this Jeff but not all police officers are upstanding citizens.

NO EXCUSE! There must be some charge filed, officer or not. No free pass!

Sherry wasn’t texting someone

he better get a failure to control…he was probably eating and distracted…this should be monitored really close…If it was a ordinary citizen the police would be all over it!!!!

Klemas is a douche bag. He gives police officers a bad name.

agreed^

Distracted driving gets you every time..failure to maintain control

Steve Klemas is a douchbag

Does not surprise me that it was klemas

anyone else, would surly get failure to control, remember boys, its not about the $$$$$

.sweep..sweep…sweep it under the rug time.

Sheriff Pals investigating…that’s an oxymoron

OWI check I hope!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG better check for drugs also>>>>
