MASON CITY – It was reported that one person was transported to the Mercy ER Thursday after a three-car pileup on the city’s northwest side.
According to police, on Thursday afternoon at about 2:48 PM, Cody Draper was driving a Buick Rendezvouz west bound on 12th Street NW at about the 1300 block while Alen Hestness was driving a GMC Jimmy eastbound at the same location. A third vehicle, a Dodge Ram 1500, driven by Marcus Chisholm, pulled out of the Casey’s General Store parking lot to make a left turn. Chisholm’s truck struck the left rear of Draper’s westbound Rendezvous. This collision apparently caused the Rendevouz to veer left (south) into the oncoming GMC Jimmy driven by Hestness.
The front of the fishtailing Rendezvous collided with the left front corner of the GMC Jimmy.
The force of the collisions caused both the Rendezvous and GMC Jimmy to roll. The Dodge Ram did not roll over.
Chisholm was cited for Failure to Yield Right of Way. Court records indicate that Marcus Chisholm, 21, was charged last year for the felony (D) crime of dealing marijuana by Cerro Gordo County Sheriffs and was given a deferred judgement (two counts). He still owes Iowa courts over $2,000.00 in that case.
NIT reporters on the scene said that Mason City police and other emergency responders were on the scene and an unknown young male was transported to Mercy Hospital ER by ambulance.
