Ventura man wanted on drug charges turns himself in

MASON CITY – A Ventura man who failed to show up for court on drug charges turned himself in to law enforcement Tuesday.

Matthew Wade Slater, age 39, was arrested by Cerro Gordo county deputies back on June 30. He was found to be in possession of marijuana and methamphetamine, two illegal drugs. He posted bond that day, and a an arraignment hearing was scheduled for August 4. However, Slater did not appear in court, and an arrest warrant was issued.

A week later, on the afternoon of August 11, Slater turned himself in. He is now being held in the jail on $2,000 cash bond as he awaits a new date for his arraignment on the drug charges.
