Some real hog dogs.

To quote the late, great George Carlin…

“Selling is legal. F*cking is legal. So why isn’t selling f*cking legal?”

Personally, I don’t see a problem with it. Of course there are risks associated with it, but there are risks with everything in life. You pay your money and you take your chances.

Well, I have to say that in countries that I have visited where prostitution was legal, they didn’t have the crime associated with it that has been suggested here. Disease was not a problem either as regular heath checks are required.

True it violates a marriage but that is going to happen with or without prostitution.

Sure a heck of lot easier to legalize and regulate prostitution than drugs.

Smile already!

I thought sodomy was illegal too. Why aren’t the police catching those criminals too? Seems like a politically correct law to enforce…or not.

I would guess you need to come forward about being violated and they would press charges.

Continued: The divorce that is inevitable, the career ruined that will have a huge economic impact to that family. It may seem like nothing to those who say it is the oldest profession in the book. But would u like it if your daughter, wife, husband, uncle etc. showed up in the news today. There are children in this horrible business that are bought and sold for sex all over the world. That is a moral outrage and a crime. Runaways, young boys and girls selling themselves to old horny perverts just for enough money to eat. Think about it people…

We do not have unlimited law enforcement resources therefore we need to prioritize how we spend our dollars. Sure this is illegal and we all knowv it. But lets determine where we can get the greatest outcome for the greatest number resulting in the most good for this community. Sorry Im not convinced that tracking down Craig’s list creepers is the way to go.

I am really disappointed with some of the comments. The MCPD does a phenomenal job handling all types of crime, making the arrests and trying to keep our community safe. The court system is the issue and the judges that continue to slap the wrists of offenders time and time again. It is lenient and is a revolving door for career criminals. The police do work on drugs, domestic abuse, rapes, robberies, drunks behind the wheel, child sexual abuse, burglaries.. you name it. Prostitution is not a victimless crime. The wives who are subject to sexually transmitted disease, the money it takes from the family with the one gentleman, the trust broken, the divorce that will probably now…

@Anonymous-I completely agree. It is that fallout to other family members as well as the sex slave trafficing. I don’t know that they will ever stomp it out but there are some very bad things that go along with this.

Its public record. Maybe Matt can get to the bottom line of my concern. Just what did this sting operation cost the taxpayers? And what was the risk, benefit outcome payoff to the community?

All it cost was a free posting on Craigslist to a pre-determined email address and then just sit and wait. It really isn’t rocket science. Go read some of the Craiglist posts and see which ones are charging “three hundred roses” or are soliciting. Set up a meeting place in a motel, rent the room next to it and BOOM. I think it’s also an excellent way to deter it. I bet after seeing Gary’s face all over, a lot of professional men are thinking twice about it now. I also think that they could nail some drug users out of the deal as well, especially if the ad says they are “420 friendly.”

Andy…. your comments are right on! That why Im just the deputy and you are the man. Lets head on over to Aunt Beas for a slice of that fresh baked apple pie, cooling on the window sill.

The true is, that should be the truth is, of course. Actually, I think the MC police do a great job, but these people were not hurting anyone, even though they were breaking the “law.”

The law is the law, you let one go and you might as well let all the laws go.

@maybe. You couldn’t be more correct.

Good to know our city is once again pure, I had no idea this kind of thing was going on here. Thanks to our brave police we have rid our town of these dangerous criminals. The true is, I object to my tax money being wasted on this kind of thing. How about catching some real bad guys. Or even pick up a speeder once and a while.

Oh come on! When the economy was good back when we had 2 horny houses in M.C. – 1 has been torn down and the other remodeled into a swanky place. SO THERE !

Throw your life away and trash your reputation just to have sex with diseased black whores? Unbelievable.

From what I understand, all these people were arrested for solicitation with undercover officers. The arrested men were not trying to have sex with the arrested women.

The defendants are alleged to have either offered to purchase a sex act or offered to sell their services in a sex act with an undercover officer.

We got trouble right here in river city with a capital p and that rhymes with t and that stands for prostitution.

why are only the broads in jail for this “horrific” crime?

They must be really hard up.

Craigslist sting operation. The cops dont have any real crime in mason city so they spend our dime on this kinda shit

They are not wasting their time. Prostitution is illegal and they cannot ignore it. They are just doing their job and enforcing the law.

You are absolutely correct. I will sleep so much more comfortably tonight knowing that Mason City has finally rid itself of the oldest “crime” since mankind walked upright. Perhaps meth and violent crime will one day get the attention of law enforcement. In the mean time your argument is not convincing.

Gotta agree with you on that. Drugs are a problem in Mason City.

which of the above innocent until proven guilty are the alleged prostitutes..?

never really understood how or why this is a crime?

@Sad-because they can’t tax it they made it a crime so they can fine it.
