MASON CITY – Treacherous driving conditions, heavy snow and strong winds contributed to a fatal multi-vehicle crash Wednesday southeast of Mason City.
A semi-truck and several other vehicles were involved in a crash about 4 miles outside Mason City in the eastbound lanes of the Avenue of the Saints. The accident happened at about 11:35 AM.
One woman was killed in the accident, Amy Hild, who helped run a popular blog website. According to social media, she was engaged. Other persons were hospitalized in the crashes that occurred between the vehicles in the accident.
The Iowa State Patrol will release more information when it becomes available.
For some reason this is a deadly streach of road – the ave. nora spring to floyd – lots of people are killed or injured on this part of the avenue of the saints. My wife says in the winter time she won’t use it – prefers to travel down to hiway 20 then cut east.
