CORALVILLE – A young man who drove to Iowa from his home state of Minnesota years ago and killed two convenience store clerks allegedly tried to kill another inmate in the prison where he is being held, and faces a felony charge of attempted murder.
Michael Richard Swanson, now 21 years of age, is now accused of trying to kill a fellow inmate at the Iowa Medical and Classification Center after an incident that took place on November 13, 2014.
Allegedly, Swanson, along with another inmate, targeted a third inmate they didn’t like and used a sharp weapon to slash the man below the head.
Swanson is serving two life sentences after he was convicted of the 2010 murders of Sheila Meyers in Humboldt and Vicky Bowman-Hall in Algona as they worked jobs at convenience stores.
