Women’s basketball
What’s next: The No. 7 NIACC women’s basketball team returns to action at 7 p.m. Wednesday at DMACC (12-5 overall, 1-0 in ICCAC). Game time is set for 5:30 p.m. in Boone.
Last time out: The Lady Trojans (10-4, 0-1) dropped a 73-71 decision to No. 4 Kirkwood last Saturday in their ICCAC opener. Sophomore Sierra Ford-Washington led the Lady Trojans with a career-high 33 points.
Among the nation’s best: The Lady Trojans average 82.1 points per game, which ranks seventh among NJCAA Division II teams. They are sixth in the nation with 130 3-point goals.
History lesson: The Lady Trojans have won five straight games against DMACC, including a 93-86 overtime win over the Bears in the NJCAA Region XI semifinals last season.
History lesson II: Cortni Rush, who played for the Lady Trojans last year, is the school’s single-season 3-point leader with 84.

Men’s basketball
What’s next: The NIACC men’s basketball team plays at No. 4 DMACC (15-3, 1-0) Wednesday. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. in Boone.
Last time out: The Trojans topped No. 9 Kirkwood 75-67 last Saturday in their conference opener. Sophomore Al Davis scored a season-high 23 points with eight rebounds and eight assists and sophomore Jason Kay scored a season-high 18 points.
Top 10 lists: Davis ranks 10th on NIACC’s all-time assist list with 224. Sophomore Conor Lang is tied for ninth on the school’s all-time 3-point list with 103. Lang is tied with Chris Throne, who played for the Trojans from 2010-12.

Wrestling
What’s next: The No. 5 NIACC wrestling team returns action Saturday in a dual meet at home against Iowa Western. Match time is 2 p.m. in the NIACC gym
Last time out: Freshman Shiquan Hall (133 pounds) claimed a title at the Central College Open last Saturday. Jake Marlin, who was wrestling unattached, placed second at 141 pounds and Quincy Kalkbrenner (165) and Jose Chavez Del Real (285) also placed second for the Trojans.
For the record: Mejias is 19-2 … Pozo is 18-5 … Paul Mascarenas is 14-5 … Hall is 18-5 … Marlin is 12-3.
In the rankings: Mascarenas is ranked 3rd at 125 by the NJCAA Wrestling Coaches Association … Hall is ranked 12th at 133 … Marlin is 10th at 141 … Nosomy Pozo is ranked 1st at 149 … Mejias is ranked first at 157 … Ben Wallace is 5th at 185 … Lawrence Phillips is 12th at 285.
History lesson: Since bringing back wrestling in the 2007-08 season, the Trojans have produced 23 all-Americans, including five national champions.
Indoor track and field
What’s next: The NIACC men’s and women’s track and field teams return to action Saturday at the Solomon W. Butler Classic on the University of Dubuque campus. The field events start at 10 a.m. and the running events start at 11 a.m.
Last time out: NIACC sophomore Rellie Kaputin qualified for the NJCAA national indoor meet with her performances in the high jump and long jump last Saturday at the Minnesota State Open. Kaputin placed second in the high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 5 inches and was fourth in the long jump (17-11 1/2).
Also qualifying for nationals was freshman Imad Amenzou, who placed third in the men’s 1,000-meter run in a time of 2 minutes, 36.79 seconds.
