AMES — Iowa country music fans are getting a stadium-sized summer party featuring three of the biggest names in American music.
Kenny Chesney will bring his Original Vibe Room Tour 2027 to MidAmerican Energy Field at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames on Saturday, June 5, 2027. Joining him will be country superstar Eric Church, nine-time Grammy winner Sheryl Crow and rising singer-songwriter Greylan James.
The concert is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.
The massive lineup marks Chesney’s return to stadium touring after two years of performing at the Sphere in Las Vegas, where his shows generated nearly 400,000 ticket sales.
Ames is one of 19 stadium stops on the newly announced tour and one of two venues Chesney will play for the first time. The tour begins April 24 in Tampa and concludes August 28 at Gillette Stadium near Boston.
“When we started to talk about touring next year, all I could think about was how good those stadiums feel—how loud, how fast, how much energy comes hurling at us,” Chesney said.
Chesney said reactions from fans helped convince him to make 2027 an all-stadium summer.
Eric Church will join Chesney throughout the tour. The two previously traveled together during the massive 2013 No Shoes Nation Tour and have reunited onstage since then, including during Chesney’s Las Vegas run.
Church brings an extensive collection of hits that includes “Springsteen,” “Drink in My Hand,” “Record Year,” “Hell of a View,” “Talladega” and “Smoke a Little Smoke.” The seven-time Academy of Country Music Award winner was named the Country Music Association’s Entertainer of the Year in 2020.
Sheryl Crow adds a rock-and-roll edge to the Ames lineup. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member has sold more than 50 million albums worldwide and is known for hits including “All I Wanna Do,” “If It Makes You Happy,” “Soak Up the Sun” and “Everyday Is a Winding Road.”
Crow has earned nine Grammy Awards, placed seven albums in the Top 10 and released her 11th studio album, “Evolution,” in 2024.
Opening the show will be East Tennessee singer-songwriter Greylan James. He won the Academy of Country Music’s Song of the Year award for co-writing Jordan Davis’ “Next Thing You Know.”
James has also written songs recorded by Morgan Wallen, Blake Shelton, Darius Rucker, Gwen Stefani and Chesney. His own “Water at a Wedding” broke into the Top 20.
The tour name reaches back to Chesney’s 2002 No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems Tour, when the “Vibe Room” became a gathering place where musicians, guests and members of the touring family could relax together.
Chesney said he wants the new tour to recreate the camaraderie, energy and sense of adventure that helped build his massive No Shoes Nation fan base.
“It’s gonna be an amazing summer,” Chesney said. “Get ready. We’re coming.”
The Ames concert will feature music spanning Chesney’s decades-long career along with selections from his new album, “Silver Sands Marina,” including its first single, “Carry On.”
Chesney has been filling arenas and stadiums for decades. NIT previously reported when his album “Life on a Rock” climbed to the top of the U.S. album chart in 2013.
Jack Trice Stadium has also demonstrated its ability to draw massive country music crowds. The venue was transformed into a sea of fans for a Luke Combs concert in April 2026, attracting music lovers from across Iowa and the Midwest.
