MASON CITY – Thrivent Financial has made a generous donation to the Humane Society of North Iowa: a $1200.00 shopping spree for pet food and other shelter supplies.
Tom Strong, President of the Cerro Gordo chapter of Thrivent Financial, had the idea to utilize money in a donation account to provide the Humane Society of North Iowa with supplies and food for the animals they care for. The Board of Directors voted and agreed to take the Humane Society of North Iowa shopping for supplies.
“As an animal lover myself,” said Strong, “I appreciate the work the Humane Society of North Iowa does for the homeless animals in our area. We know they go through a lot of supplies caring for the shelter animals, so we thought a shopping trip would be beneficial.”
The $1200.00 donation was made through a shopping trip to Mill’s Fleet Farm. Representatives from Thrivent Financial and Humane Society of North Iowa Executive Director Sybil Soukup shopped for the supplies.
“What a wonderful gift!” exclaimed Soukup, “We are incredibly grateful for such a generous donation from our friends at Thrivent Financial. We were able to purchase exactly what we need at the shelter to provide care to the almost 150 animals residing in our facility currently.”
The shopping spree included: 3 cat trees, 350 pounds of dog food, 150 pounds of kitten food, 4 cases of cat food, 5 cases of bleach, laundry detergent, trash bags, and many, many other items.
Thrivent Financial is a not-for-profit financial services organization located in Mason City. Giving back to the community in which it serves is a key priority to the organization.
The Humane Society of North Iowa is a non-profit organization that serves a 9 county area in North Iowa and operates a no-kill rescue animal shelter in Mason City.
