AMES – Police in Ames are investigating an armed robbery at a convenience store near Interstate 35.
The Ames police department said that on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at approximately 6:00 AM, officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Kum & Go located at 2801 East 13th Street. According to the store employee, the suspect displayed a knife or box cutter and demanded money. The suspect was described as a white male adult, in his 30s or 40s, approximately 5’4” to 5’6”, stocky build, wearing black pants, a blue t-shirt and black boots. The suspect pulled his shirt up over his head and he put his hand over his mouth to obscure his face. The suspect left without getting any money after the employee called for other people working in the store. No one was injured. A small, dark, 4 door car was seen leaving the scene and may be involved.
Investigators are working on obtaining video or pictures from the robbery to release to the public to help identify the suspect.
