NIT – A group that has lobbied hard for passage of a medical cannabis oil bill reported today that Governor Terry Branstad has indicated he will sign the bill recently approved in the Iowa legislature.

According to Iowa Patients for Medical Marijuana, Branstad was at a town hall meeting Thursday in Webster City when a local woman, Tiffany Hoffman, urged Branstad to sign the bill, which would help her daughter, who has daily seizures.  He said that while he doesn’t have the bill yet, he is likely to sign it once he does.

“I always reserve judgment until we see it in its final form, but I think it’s very likely that we will and I really hope that it does make a difference for your daughter and the other kids,” Branstad reportedly told the woman.

Under the bill’s provisions (SF 2360), Iowans would be able to possess a specific type of medical marijuana, specifically cannabis oil for treating epilepsy. Currently, it is illegal to produce the oil in Iowa.  The bill stipulates that a person would have to travel outside the state to obtain the cannabis oil, and to use the oil, a person would have to be diagnosed with intractable epilepsy.

Nothing wrong with this as it is for medical reasons and new information has become available. This is a lot different than the dopehead, druggers want.

Go pour yourself another vodka on the rocks and leave medical marijuana discussion to those who care.

I thought the government had been telling us for many years that cannabis had no medical use and why it’s a schedule 1 drug. Somebody’s lying.

What a crock. This is only for “The bill approved Thursday decriminalizes possession of cannabidiol for epileptic patients”

and the have to get the oil out of state and only by someone chosen by the doctor. It leaves out cancer patients and all others who may benefit. Iowa sucks.

It is interesting that less than a year ago the Gov was against any type of medical marijuana in the state despite the overwhelming number of Iowans who supported passage. Now that his run for another term has started to be a bit more of a struggle than anticipated, he will sign it and, I’m sure, state that this is what he had in mind all along.

It should be noted that this bill has nothing to do with “marijuana”. It’s about non psychoactive hemp oil. These are two different things.
