MASON CITY – A man has been charged with two felonies in connection with fires at two Mason City businesses.
Charges have been filed against 27-year-old Lil Robert Vincent Barnes in connection with the fires that damaged two local businesses this March and additionally possessing a stolen coin machine from a car wash.
Barnes is charged with 2nd degree Arson and 2nd degree Burglary, both class C felonies, related to the fire at L.D.’s Filling Station on March 17 . He is also charged with 1st degree Arson, 2nd degree Burglary and Ongoing Criminal Conduct, all class B felonies, in connection with the fire at the Coin Laundry Center on March 20.
During the investigation a search warrant was served at Barnes’s residence and a coin machine valued over $19,000 was located. The coin machine had been stolen from the K&R Car Wash on March 14. Barnes is charged with 1 degree Theft-possession of stolen property, a class C felony, in association with this investigation.
Barnes is being held in the Cerro Gordo county jail pending court appearances.
