Registration now open for April 25 Motorcycle Safety Forum

iowa-dot-logo-2014AMES – Registration is now open for the 2014 Motorcycle Safety Forum. This rider-focused event is facilitated by Iowa’s motorcycle safety team, a diverse partnership of motorcycle safety advocates; the Iowa Department of Transportation, motorcycle trainers, dealers, and riders.
The event is being held Friday, April 25, at the Iowa Events Center, Hy-Vee Hall B, in Des Moines from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. To register for the event, log in here.

A change in venue for the forum will allow more space for vendor exhibits. This one-day, interactive forum will feature several presentations, safety displays, an exhibitor tradeshow, and other motorcycle-related exhibits. Presenters include Reggie Showers, Stacey “Axe” Axemaker, Laura and Kenny Wulf, and Slider Gilmore. There will be also be giveaways and a photo booth where participants can have their photo taken with a motorcycle inside the conference center.

Last year’s forum was a sold-out event. Registration is $15 and includes a continental breakfast, lunch, breaks, and an opportunity to enter a drawing for an Aluma motorcycle trailer. Participants are asked to be prepared to share ideas and thoughts with forum committee members and other riders throughout the day.

Over the past three years, an average of 43 motorcycles riders or passengers have been killed on Iowa highways. Iowa DOT event organizer, Toni Kerkove states, “All highways deaths are preventable. By encouraging safe riding behaviors through efforts such as the Motorcycle Safety Forum we can all work together to reach the goal of zero fatalities on Iowa’s roadways.”
