TERRIL — Two drivers were injured and both of their SUVs were destroyed after a stop-sign violation led to a violent collision at a rural Northern Iowa intersection.
The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office responded at approximately 4:46 p.m. on July 23, 2026, after receiving an automated iPhone crash-detection alert from the intersection of 310th Avenue and 220th Street, also identified as county roads N14 and A34.
Investigators determined that Jody Sheriff, 53, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, was driving a 2013 Kia Sorento south on 310th Avenue.
At the same time, Laura Manwarren, 57, of Everly, was driving a 2023 Hyundai Palisade east on 220th Street.
The sheriff’s office said Manwarren failed to obey the stop sign while approaching the intersection, causing the two SUVs to collide.
Both vehicles were thrown into the southeast ditch.
The 2013 Kia Sorento rolled before coming to rest on its wheels. The 2023 Hyundai Palisade also rolled and came to rest upside down on its roof.
Sheriff and Manwarren were transported by ambulance with minor, non-incapacitating injuries.
Both SUVs were declared total losses.
Manwarren was cited for failure to obey a traffic-control device.
The crash follows another recent Northern Iowa intersection collision in which authorities said a driver failed to yield, leaving two people seriously injured.

The Terril Fire Department, Terril Ambulance, Lakes Regional Healthcare Ambulance, Milford Police Department, Iowa Department of Natural Resources and Iowa State Patrol assisted the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office at the scene.
