MASON CITY – A trial for a former Mason City man accused of murdering a young child 19 years ago may be moved out of the area.
A trial date for February 17, 2014 has been scheduled for Michael J. Cisneros, age 37, on a charge of felony A first degree murder in the death of John Snyder Jr., who was just 20 months old in 1994 when he went missing.
Citing pretrial publicity, Public Defender Letitia Turner, representing Cisneros, filed a motion for a change of venue on November 14th. On November 19th, Judge Dedra Schroeder set a hearing on the change of venue request for December 9th at 1:30 PM. The trial would be held in Mason City, unless the change of venue request is granted. County Attorney Carlyle Dalen filed papers in resistance to the request.
John Snyder Jr. went missing June 20th, 1994 and his body was found one day later in Willow Creek just east of the Pennsylvania Avenue bridge in Mason City.
Cisneros was arrested on July 12, 2013 after DNA analysis linked him to the child’s death. In October, Cisnoeros waived his right to a speedy trial.

What are the circumstances behind this case, does anyone know? How did this guy get to be alone with a child? Where did it take place?
I bet he thought he’s gotten away with it. It didn’t even seem to bother him for 20 years. I bet he thinks DNA testing is a bitch! LOL
