Autopsy confirms that Rockwell City police officer died of gunshot wound

DES MOINES – An autopsy has been completed on Rockwell City police officer, 37 year old Jamie Buenting. The Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office has ruled that the death of Officer Buenting was caused by a gunshot wound to the chest and the manner of death will be certified as homicide.

Officer Buenting was participating as part of regional tactical team that was attempting to execute an arrest warrant on 32 year old Corey Trott for a prior incident.

Trott has been charged with 1st degree murder in the death of Officer Buenting.

  1. He should not have ran from the civilians, he must have been a criminal or up to no good. Good for the civilians.
