MASON CITY – Alan Cannon of Clear Lake was sentenced to 5 years in prison on Monday for soliciting the murder of a young girl.

Cannon, 31, entered one voluntary negotiated guilty plea to a class D felony count of 705.1(A) Solicitation to Commit a Felony on January 28th and had been awaiting sentencing.

Alan Cannon’s legal troubles started following a party at his apartment in Clear Lake in 2o11 in which he supplied alcohol to a female juvenile, 16 years of age. Following the party, the female juvenile reported to law enforcement Cannon had sexually assaulted her while she was intoxicated.

While on supervised release for charges of sexual abuse in the 3rd degree and supplying alcohol to a minor, Cannon allegedly approached two separate men soliciting one to murder the alleged victim and hide her body. Cannon gave the 2nd man $400 dollars to purchase a firearm to complete the murder.

The sexual assault charge was pleaded down to assault and Cannon was found guilty of the charge of supplying alcohol to a minor .

He looks like a bad version of Seth Rogen. (Sorry Seth) Maybe a character Seth Rogen is playing for an upcoming Civil War re-enactment film? Stupid cannot be undone in his case. Maybe he’ll improve his bowling score or learn how to read? Enjoy the vacation.

Alan Cannon (also known as Al Cannon) Is still in Mason City, IA. I have seen him stay a one of my friends parents house for a night. He is still allowed to participate in the Mason City Civil War Reenactment. (When I met him, he threatened me by saying he was thrown in jail for killing a man and to not mess with him).

sickening isn’t it? guy shuolda got at least 15-20. If it were my daughter i’d be waiting for him at the front door of prison on release day. he’d need an ambulance for his ride home. i have no doubt he’ll strike again. he’s a snake. i think he has some time to do on other charges 2.

I looked it up and you’re correct. He only got 30 days and a $500 fine for the sexual assault. I still think he should have gotten more time. Too bad he’s not going to the Fort. Justice would have been served to him there. Anny is a playpen.
