Nine dogs and puppies rescued from Iowa house, suspect charged

WEBSTER CITY – Authorities converged on this Iowa house and rescued dogs and puppies living in allegedly unsanitary conditions, charging a suspect after an investigation.

According to Webster City Chief of Police Shiloh B. Mork, on February 14, 2024 the Webster City Police Department, with the assistance of the Animal Rescue League of Iowa, executed a search warrant at 1203 Walnut Street in Webster City. The search warrant follows an investigation into animal neglect.

As a result of the investigation, nine animals were rescued from the residence. The animals ranged from adult dogs to young puppies. The conditions in which the animals were housed was deemed unsanitary.

Dennis Russell Goodrich, age 63 of Webster City, was charged with animal neglect, a simple misdemeanor. The ownership of the animals was surrendered to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa.

Assisting the Webster City Police Department were the Animal Rescue League of Iowa, the Hamilton County Attorney’s Office and the Webster City Veterinary Clinic.
