MASON CITY – Grace Olmstead of Waterloo Columbus has signed a national letter of intent to play volleyball at NIACC starting in the 2013 season.
NIACC coach Chris Brandt said the defensive specialist will make a great addition to NIACC next season.
“She is a passionate player who is excited to be able to take her game to the college level and is very appreciative of this opportunity,” Brandt said.
As a senior, Olmstead was second on the team with 309 digs. She was 269 of 292 serving with 23 aces.
Olmstead attended Carroll Kuemper as a freshman and sophomore and played at Waterloo Columbus during her junior and senior seasons.
“I have learned a lot from being a teammate and player in these programs,” Olmstead said, “as each brought different challenges and coaching styles.
“I believe everyone is part of a team in their own way and they are beneficial to the team. I’ve grown up with three brothers who have also shown me the value in being an outgoing, confident and motivational person.”
