Pyongyang (KCNA) — This year the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea will greet the 60th anniversary of its victory in the Fatherland Liberation War (1950-1953).

In the New Year address, the dear respected Kim Jong Un said that the dignified and glorious present of the Korean people and the bright prosperous future of the country are ensured by the great achievements President Kim Il Sung made while leading the Fatherland Liberation War to brilliant victory on the strength of his outstanding strategy and tactics and wise leadership.

The last Fatherland Liberation War was an all-out war between the two-year-old DPRK and the U.S., which was boasting of being the strongest in the world.

On the day when the U.S. imperialists started a war against the DPRK, President Kim Il Sung ordered the units of the Korean People’s Army to stop the enemies’ surprise attack and switch over to counter-offensive, appealing to all the people to demonstrate the mettle of the Koreans.

In response to his order, the KPA liberated Seoul in three days after the outbreak of the war and seized over 90 percent of south Korea’s territory inhabited with more than 92 percent of its population in a little more than one month.

When the KPA was undergoing a temporary strategic retreat, he took a measure for planned retreat in order to maintain its main forces and organize new anti-offensive units.

His distinguished strategy and tactics brought to naught the U.S. offensives step by step.

He foiled the battle of the small hilltop “T”, prepared by the U.S. with so much effort as a prelude to “New Offensive”, on the strength of sudden artillery strikes.

Thanks to his tactics, a KPA unit captured in 15 minutes the Height 351 which had been turned into a fortress by the enemy.

After all, the war ended in victory of the Korean people and the U.S. imperialists could not but sign the Armistice Agreement.
