CEDAR FALLS – The UNI Panthers men’s basketball team (6-5 overall) will play its first home game in 17 days when the Panthers play host to the Saint Mary’s College Gaels (8-2). UNI and Saint Mary’s will tip at 1 p.m. Sunday in the McLeod Center.
UNI’s 10-game home-court winning streak ranks as the 11th-best mark in the nation. It’s the second-longest streak (21 in 2009-2010) in the McLeod Center since the arena opened in 2006.
Saint Mary’s owns a 1-0 lead over UNI in the all-time series between the two schools. SMC scored a 57-41 win over UNI last season in Moraga, Calif., in ESPN’s College Hoops 24-Hour Marathon.
Senior guard Anthony James is closing in on becoming the Panthers’ next 1,000-point career scorer. James has tallied 965 points heading into Sunday’s game vs. Saint Mary’s.
