Coralville man with history of OWI charges arrested in Mason City for same

MASON CITY -A Coralville man was arrested in  Mason City for impaired driving.

Erik Michael Halverson, 34, was pulled over by Mason City police on October 21st at 2:11 AM for a traffic violation at Highway 122 and Willowbrook Drive.  Halverson was then arrested for operating while intoxicated and taken to the Cerro Gordo County Jail where he was booked and released after posting $1,000 bond.  He is set to appear in court on October 29th.

Online records show the charge as “1ST OFFENSE” OWI, but, online records also show that Halverson was found guilty of operating a vehicle while intoxicated (1st offense) in 1997 in Grundy county.  Online records further show Halverson was charged and found guilty of operating while intoxicated (1st offense) in Linn County in 1997.  Continuing, online records show that Halverson was charged with 3rd offense operating while intoxicated in 1998 in Linn county but the charge was plead down to second offense.

In 1995, Halverson was found guilty of “striking fixtures,” a violation of Iowa code 321.265.  In that case, according to online records, Halverson’s father, Mike, called the court about paying for the damages.

Halverson was also charged by the Iowa City Police Department with 1st degree robbery, a class B felony, in 2000 but that charge was plead down to 5th degree theft.  He was also found guilty of assault and public intoxication at the same court appearance.

Halverson also has numerous public intoxication charges and moving violations on his record.  As recently as October 8th, 2012, Halverson was found guilty of public intoxication in Iowa City.  He owes $545.25 to the court in that case.

Erik Halverson also has on his record simple assault and possession of alcohol underage among other charges.

Is his dad a cop?

Hey, let’s just give the guy another chance to see if he can injure or kill someone. You just know our judges and county attorney’s will plea bargin and turn him loose again. How many chances do we give a loser like this? Vote the liberal judges out and start a campain to replace our county attorneys.
