MASON CITY – The Mason City Fire Department was dispatched to a field fire near the 1400 block of 12th Street NW, shortly before noon on Tuesday.
Part of 12th Street was blocked off by the Mason City Police Department just west of Kraft Foods for safety purposes.
A farmer got his tractor and disk out and disked the fire under to help the Fire Department. It was reported that it helped put out 90% of the fire.
The Firefighters proceeded to out any leftover “hotspots”.
