KANAWHA, IOWA – A person was killed late Monday while walking near Kanawha, Iowa.
According to an Iowa State Patrol crash report, at about 11 PM Monday, a female walking northbound in the southbound lane on County Road R-35 near the edge of the highway was struck by a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix, which was traveling southbound.
The female, now named by the Iowa State Patrol as Sabrina Reibsamen, 27, of Kanawha, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the car was Jonathan Roelofsen, 28, of Kanawha.
The incident remains under investigation.
Iowa State Patrol investigators were assisted by the Hancock County Sheriff, Wright County Sheriff, Kanawha emergency responders and other Iowa State Patrol officials.
