Last nights storm hit Clear Lake hard. Many trees and wires were blown by the high winds, but one house in particular got hit the hardest.
City Councilman, Tony Nelson and wife Ashley, off of South Shore Dr. had a full grown, fully alive tree fall straight down on top of their home. Around 10:00 pm, Friday night, “The windows started shaking, the lights went off and I started contemplating going to the basement,” said Ashley. She didn’t know if it was just a bad storm or if a tornado had hit. “Once I realized it was a tree that hit our house, I went across the street to my In-Laws. I didn’t know if it would do more damage.” She went on to say, “It was scary outside, it was dark and windy, you couldn’t see if anything was going to hit you.”
Asplundh, the people that were going to cut the down, had to plan out how they were going to do it. It took a little while until they came up with a plan. They had to be careful, even though the electricity was off. Safety first for everybody.
An Alliant representative was asked when they thought the South Shore area, that had the tree down on a house, would get their electricity back, “When they get the tree down and all the debris is cleaned up. I heard they had a tree crew there now, so after that.”
