Sandra “Sandy” Edler, 86 of Bradgate, passed away Sunday, March 29, 2026, at the Laurens Care Center in Laurens. Sandy’s family will be hosting a celebration of her life at a later date. Services have been entrusted to Lentz Funeral Home of Humboldt.
Sandra Jean Edler, the daughter of Lawrence and Katherine “Tena” (Freerks) Woodley, was born May 6, 1939, in Dumont, Iowa. She attended school in Allison and graduated with the class of 1957. Soon after high school, Sandy was united in marriage to Howard “Howie” Edler in Dumont, Iowa.
Sandy owned and operated Sandy’s Place in Bradgate. She served as the Mayor of Bradgate for several years. Sandy loved to bake, play cards, planted and maintained large gardens, canned vegetables and read, but most of all, Sandy loved to spend time with her family.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Tim Edler of Bradgate, Lori Ludwig of Dakota City, Mike Edler of Bradgate, Lisa (Mike) Mundus of Emmetsburg, Dave (Karen) Edler of Yankton, South Dakota and Steve (Hata Coragic) Edler of Waterloo; fourteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Lawrence and Tena Freerks and husband: Howard Edler.
