WATERLOO – A woman was found dead in a Waterloo home, and cops quickly nabbed a suspect in the apparent killing.
According to Captain Gus Farmer of the Waterloo police department, on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at approximately 11:36 a.m., officers were dispatched to 3912 Butternut Lane for a welfare check. Upon arrival, officers located a deceased adult female inside the residence. The victim has been identified as Stephanie Turner, age 50, of Waterloo.
During the investigation, Waterloo Police Department Detectives arrested Nicholas John Fettkether, age 27, of Waterloo. Fettkether has been charged with Murder in the 2nd Degree and is currently being held in the Black Hawk County Jail.
The Waterloo Police Department asks anyone with information regarding this incident to contact the Waterloo Police Detective Division.
Do the math people. 15 % of US population are black. 38 % of people incarcerated in the US are black.

You seem to be obsessed with skin color / race. Why are you singling out “black” people in connection to a murder story?
Because most of your stories about crime concern Black men or immigrants. I am just surprised that you can objectively note that white men are also criminals (in greater numbers than immigrants or Black men).
As a percentage of the population, certain types commit WAY more crimes than others, and you know this. (Not Asians). It’s people like you that instantly think of our black neighbors as murderers and crooks. You seem to go right for the mug shot on every crime story to check on their skin tone… I mean, I think you are obsessed with race. Here at NIT, as a shining beacon of fairness and justice for all, we acknowledge and objectively note (as you put it) that all races contain a portion of trash, commit heinous acts, and should be punished for their deeds regardless of hue, age, etc.

Just noticed that when someone who isn’t an immigrant or a person of color the headlines read “Waterloo woman found dead, suspect nabbed” but when a person of color or immigrant commits a crime the headline is “Illegal alien in big trouble after fleeing cops at 100mph and slamming head-on into Jeep, killing pregnant teen” or “Iowa man nabbed after road rage incident in which woman was beaten”
