OBIT: Marion H Kollasch

Marion Hazel (Linde) Kollasch, the daughter of Reba (Anderson) and Oscar Linde, was born on July 8, 1928, on the farm in Eagle Township, Kossuth County, Iowa. Marion passed away on March 18, 2025, at Valley Vue Care Center in Armstrong, Iowa at the age of 96.

Marion Hazel (Linde) Kollasch, the daughter of Reba (Anderson) and Oscar Linde, was born on July 8, 1928, on the farm in Eagle Township, Kossuth County, Iowa. Marion passed away on March 18, 2025, at Valley Vue Care Center in Armstrong, Iowa at the age of 96.

Marion attended the country school through 8th grade and graduated from Swea City High School in 1946. She went on to attend Mankato Commercial College. She worked at the First National Bank in Fairmont, Minnesota, the Bon Marche in Seattle, Washington, Hungerford’s Garage and the Creamery in Swea City.

On November 24, 1950, Marion was united in marriage to Edwin Kollasch in the Ledyard Sacred Heart Parish house. She currently is a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Armstrong. She was a member of St. Mary’s Altar Society and was a board member for the Swea City Meals on Wheels.

The couple first lived in a small house in Swea City until 1964 and then moved to the farm east of Swea City where they shared the farming and chores. In their earlier years, they had a sizable garden for canning, made jelly and juice with the grapes, and froze lots of apple crisp to enjoy. She loved to play cards, embroider, read, and have coffee with her family and friends.

Marion and Ed moved to Main Street Manor in Swea City, in September of 2018 and then followed Ed to Valley Vue Nursing Home in Armstrong in January of 2020.

Marion is survived by her sons David (Lupe) of Swea City, Bill (Bobi) of Armstrong, and Tim (Jenny) of Rochester, MN; daughter Linda (Troy) Adams of Swea City. Marion loved her family and enjoyed her 12 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren: Shawn (Genevieve) Kollasch, Justin, Caden, Gavin, Kash of McKinney, TX, Korey (Aurelia) Kollasch, Edwin of Forest, VA, Nicholas (Katy) Kollasch, Oliver, Louis of Denver, CO, Christa (Drew) Bouwman, Keatyn, Colt of Minneota, MN, Kim (Adam) Doughan, Lilly, Thatcher, Tucker, Maverick, Della, Hogan of Orange City, IA, Landon (Renae) Kollasch, Liam, Adeline, Castor, Diesel, Wolfgang of Armstrong, IA, Season (Brent) Schultze, Ellie, Nolan of Ceylon, MN, Emma (fiancée Owen) Schultze of Rochester, MN, Mandi (Scott) Goche, Darius of Bancroft, IA, Silas (Paige) Goche of Bancroft, IA, Kyphus Goche of Sioux City, IA , Carrie (Chris) Stevens, Charleston, Chandler of Ankeny, IA, Kirsten (fiancée Clay) Adams, Ledger of Waverly, IA, Matt Adams of Estherville, IA, Jake Adams of Algona, IA; sister-in-law Joyce Kollasch; and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddy, her parents, sisters Helen (Thad) Johnson and Dorothy (Lew) Johnson.
