May 4, 1978 – January 4, 2025

Jerimiah Michael Hippen, age 46, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 4, 2025, in Mason City.

Born May 4, 1978, in Iowa City to Michael and Mary (Vega) Hippen, Jerimiah spent his early years in Minnesota near Minneapolis, where his boundless curiosity first became apparent. As a child, he was a handful—his inquisitive nature led to constant tinkering such as learning to disassemble and reassemble his bicycle more times than anyone could count.

Jerimiah was a wrestler in his youth, but his true passion emerged in the arts. Following his high school graduation he attended NIACC and completed their welding program.

A devoted family man, Jerimiah was the glue that held his loved ones together. He believed in the importance of checking in, and his sporadic calls—often filled with jokes and heartfelt moments—will be deeply missed. What we wouldn’t give for just one more of those calls.

Jerimiah was an early riser, savoring his morning cup of coffee before starting his day. He had a talent for cooking and was famous for his biscuits and gravy, a dish that became a family favorite. His love of frogs led to a quirky and endearing collection, and his sense of humor—always quick, sharp, and lovingly mischievous—had a way of bringing people together, even if it meant getting under their skin just a little.

He leaves behind a family who adored him, a circle of friends who will never forget his laughter, and an artistic legacy that speaks to the depth of his imagination and heart. Among those include his parents, Mike Hippen and Mary Hippen; siblings, Tracy Muth and her family, Colten and Laura and their son, CJ; Terell; and Deven and his son, Roman; Dylan and Brandy Hippen and their family, Lexi, Lilly, and Degan; and Olivia Hippen; his paternal grandfather, Royce Hippen; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins, including his cousin, Joe Hippen, who shared a lifelong bond with Jerimiah.

He is preceded in death by Daniel and Lilian Vega; Dorothy Hippen; Kathy and Tom Kirchbaum; and his beloved Pitbull, Carols.

A celebration of Jerimiah’s life will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025, where his family will greet relatives and friends from 3 pm until 5 pm at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St NE Mason City. A time for sharing of memories and a brief prayer service will be held at 4:20 pm.

Though his time was far too short, Jerimiah lived fully, loved deeply, and left a lasting mark on all who knew him.
