ESTHERVILLE – The report of a suspicious vehicle resulted in the arrest of a Northern Iowa woman on drug charges in Emmet County Saturday afternoon.
According to Emmet County Sheriff Mike Martens, the sheriff’s office received a report of a suspicious vehicle that was parked at the end of the caller’s farm driveway shortly before 1:30pm that day.
When arrived officers at the scene, they encountered 55-year-old Sonia Black of Boyden standing outside of the vehicle at the end of the caller’s driveway.
Upon investigation at the scene, a controlled substance was found in the possession of Black and it was learned this vehicle had followed the caller’s vehicle into the farm driveway and drove behind the caller’s home at the property and parked behind a machine shed on the property briefly before leaving the building site and parking at the end of the driveway.
As a result, Black was placed under arrest by a sheriff’s deputy and transported to the Emmet County Jail where she was booked for Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine) First Offense. Bond was set at $1000.00 cash or surety and Black remains in custody.
The Emmet County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Estherville Police Department.
