Evonne Arlys Witham, 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 22, 2024 at Good Shepherd Health Care Center.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday March 22, 2025, Elmwood St. Joseph Cemetery, 1224 S Washington Ave, Mason City, Iowa.
Evonne Hagen was born on June 20, 1937, to Carl and Stella (Peterson) Hagen in Lake Mills, Iowa. She graduated from Lake Mills High School and later married Stanley Witham. Together, they raised three children.
Throughout her life, Evonne was hardworking and resourceful. She worked as a waitress, a nanny, and even ran her own food truck business, which she proudly brought to local fairs and flea markets. Although her marriage to Stanley eventually ended, Evonne found companionship in James “Jim” Kofoot in the 1990s. The two shared a love for travel, often visiting casinos and exploring the Black Hills.
Christmas held a special place in Evonne’s heart. She loved decorating for the season and treasured time spent with her family. A cherished tradition was playing Monopoly together every Christmas. Evonne also enjoyed playing cards with friends, bingo nights, and bowling in a senior league for many years.
Above all, Evonne adored being a grandmother. She delighted in taking her grandchildren on shopping trips to Albert Lea, hosting sleepovers, and bonding over painting nails and shared laughter.
Those left to cherish memories of Evonne are her children, Kim Witham, and Tom (Michelle) Witham; grandchildren, Sara Titus (Vuong Nayima), Alex (Annie) Witham, and Molly (Kyle) Witham; great grandchildren, Jasper and Violet Manuel, as well as two more grandchildren on the way; first husband; Stanley (Shirley) Witham; and other extended family members and friends.
Evonne is preceded in death by her daughter, Kelly Swanson; grandson, Zachary Witham; both of her parents and significant other, James “Jim” Kofoot.
