Don “Red” Wendell Anderson, 63, of Clear Lake, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at his home. Arrangements are entrusted to Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 310 First Ave. North, Clear Lake, Iowa 50428.

Don was born on July 4, 1961, in Litchfield, Minnesota, the son of Lynn and Judeen (Byers) Anderson. He grew up in Tracy, Minnesota until his family moved to Mason City, Iowa in 1979. Don graduated from Mason City High School. During high school he was in many sports where he excelled especially in the Golden Gloves boxing.

Throughout his life, Don was known for his hard work. He took on a variety of roles, working as a farmhand, in construction, in factories, he also owned his own business; Red’s Painting for many years. Most recently Don worked in food service at Clear Lake Culver’s.

In his free time, Don cherished the outdoors. He loved hunting and had a special fondness for his coon dogs. He was married to Michelle Prouty, and together they were blessed with a daughter, Nichole. Later, Don was in a long-term relationship with Annette Holm, and they were blessed with a son, Ryan.

Don is survived by his children: Nichole Radke of San Antonio, Texas, and Ryan Anderson of South Dakota; his grandchildren, Hailey, Ethan, Khole, Kaden, Jeremiah and Jaymes; and his siblings, Melodee, Keith, Kevin and Dawn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lynn and Judeen, and his sister Debbie.
